Fletching issues with Vane Master Pro Jig

We are very familiar with the VMP from Last Chance and how it works with our vanes. Getting adequate pressure to the middle of the vane is usually the toughest challenge with it.

The root cause for the issue you’re seeing is because the bases of our vanes are extremely low-profile to the shaft, compared to every other vane on the market. Because of this, there is not much material between the wires and the arrow. Since the VMP doesn’t allow you to apply quite as much pressure as some other jigs, we find it works best to physically apply the necessary pressure yourself. You’ll notice the wires apply pressure to the outer edges of our vane’s base, rather than being close to the middle. Because of that, we find it works best to press the vanes down before you remove the clamp. We also find the wires hold tighter and better when you have the helical set at 3° since it’s going to automatically make that connection tighter.

See photos – First, hold tight to either side of the wires for 8-10 seconds, then physically press the outer edge of the vane to squeeze the excess glue out. We usually find the ends of the vane are stuck really well, but the middle is not because the middle of the wires aren’t getting as much pressure. So after you pull the arrow out of the jig, we recommend squeezing the vane down to remove any glue voids.

At the end of the day, this is not going to be a vane, glue or primer issue. The issue is getting a 100% seat against the arrow shaft.
