Which vane is best for Iron Will, or other Traditional (Cut on Contact) style broadheads?

Thanks for your interest in TAC Vanes! Our vanes work exceptionally well for hunting and there’s a few options to support your setup.

Our top recommendation would be the 2.25” Matrix. They’re a high profile vane, so that’s ideal to pair with this type of broadhead. You could 3, or 4-fletch them and they’ll support that broadhead without any problem.

You could also 4-fletch the 2.75” Driver vanes. The Driver is our most popular model, but since it’s lower profile than the shorter 2.25” Matrix, we always recommend 4-fletching them when you’re pairing them with that type of broadhead. 3-fletching the 2.75” Driver could possibly work, but we still recommend putting 4 on them.

No matter the model, or application, TAC Vanes should always be fletched with at least 2 degree helical. Straight clamps don’t typically adhere are our vanes well for some folks, but they also won’t correct the arrow nearly as well as when you have a 2-3 degree helical on the vane. We want the back of the arrow to have a little drag, so fletching with a helical is the only way for a TAC Vane to create any.

**If you already know the direction your broadhead needs to spin, then make sure you match it with the helical. We recommend to fletch one arrow and shoot it with some of your broadheads. Shoot one head and if it doesn’t fly well, try one more. Make sure the broadheads are spinning well (straight). If they aren’t flying well at that point, then change direction of the helical and I’d bet they’ll fly perfectly. We have run into this situation with an Iron Will broadhead shooter. We recommended left helical and they didn’t fly well. We had him try right helical and he said it flew 100% perfectly. Our vanes grab more air to force spin than any others on the market, so they’re really going to fight it, if the broadheads are also trying to pull in one direction or the other. It makes no difference which direction the bare shaft turns because the broadhead is forcing it to turn in a particular direction.
