My vanes are mis-shapen or bent!

Thank you for choosing TAC Vanes!

With our material, we spent a lot of time mixing different resins to get a really good memory on our vanes. When the material is made straight, that’s the way it naturally wants to be at all times. If they get bent up, a bit of heat will bring them back to the form they were originally made in.

If they’re completely smashed for any period of time, like in a soft case, they won’t automatically come back every time, until it’s warm enough. Depending on the severity, the arrows could be sat in the sun for 10-20 minutes and that often brings them back as well.

The quickest and easiest way is to use an every-day hair dryer. It needs to be on the hottest setting and usually the vanes will be pretty straight after 15-20 seconds. Just work the vanes back and forth while applying the heat and eventually they’ll come back 100%.

Another option is to boil water and hold the fletchings up in the steam for a bit. Same as with the hair dryer, you might need to work the vane back and forth a bit, but when they’re eventually warm enough, they’ll come back straight.
The only time our vanes might not come back, is if the material is severely damaged. Like if you shot through something super hard, etc.

As long as you’re using a clamp-style fletching jig, they’ll fletch perfectly fine. You could fletch them while they’re still warm and it wouldn’t hurt anything. Some fletching jigs don’t work as well with TAC Vanes either way, but depending on which type it is, they also may not straighten them up as well if they got bent up.
